What is Green Home?

The programme focuses on waste, energy, water and travel associated with the household and home. The programme was initiated because of the success of the Green-Schools programme in Ireland. Students from Green-Schools were taking their good sustainability practices home and encouraging the wider family and household to do their bit.

From this Green-Home was developed as a framework to support and encourage all householders to reduce their environmental impact. We are now becoming very aware of how we have to make all aspects of our lives more sustainable. Getting involved in Green-Home is a great way of starting this process. Furthermore, it will save you money and it should be fun. Green-Home can be undertaken by an individual householder or a household can be part of a community or school hub.
